Agricultural sector: Commission approves EUR 167 million Italian state aid scheme in the context of Russia’s war against Ukraine
Today, the European Commission (Commission) has greenlighted a EUR 167 million Italian scheme aimed at supporting the primary agricultural production sector in the context of Russia’s war against Ukraine.
The scheme offers aid through social contribution reductions for employers in the primary agricultural sector in parts of Emilia-Romagna, Marche, and Tuscany affected by the May 2023 floods, who already faced difficulties due to the market challenges caused by Russia’s war against Ukraine.
This scheme was approved under the State aid Temporary Crisis and Transition Framework (TCTF). In particular, the Commission considered that it was necessary, appropriate and proportionate to remedy a serious disturbance in the economy of a Member State (Article 107(3)(b) TFEU) and fulfilled the TCTF’s conditions.
