Universal Postal Service: Commission approves Aid for Poczta Polska’s
The European Commission has cleared Poland’s plans to compensate Poczta Polska approximately €865 million for fulfilling its universal postal service obligation from 2021 to 2025. Poczt Polska was assigned in 2015 this obligation but received no aid for the period between 2015 and 2020.
The Commission analysed the measure under Article 106(2) TFEU, the Service of general Economic Interest Framework dealing with the rules on public service compensation and the Postal Services Directive. It approved the measure as the scope of the universal service obligation complied with the Postal Services Directive, Poczta Polska was selected through a competitive tender process and the compensation does not exceed the net cost of the public service.
